JT Group Acquires Isle of Man’s Leading Telecoms Provider
Jersey Telecom’s parent company, JT Group, has announced the acquisition of Manx Telecom Group, the Isle of Man’s leading telecommunications provider. The deal makes JT Group the largest telecoms operator across the UK Crown Dependencies.
The combined company will serve customers in Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man, with a commitment to investing in “resilient and secure, next-generation digital networks.” JT Group completed the acquisition with support from infrastructure fund manager CVC DIF, describing the move as a way to “build a powerful platform for innovation” while continuing to support local communities.
JT Group CEO Daragh McDermott said the two companies share “similar values and ambition, making the acquisition a perfect fit.” Manx Telecom Group CEO Gary Lamb called the deal “an exciting new chapter” for the company.
The Government of Jersey reiterated that Jersey Telecom remains a “strategic national asset,” fully owned by the States of Jersey. Elaine Millar, Minister for Treasury and Resources, added: “This acquisition strengthens JT’s position and growth plans and reinforces our commitment to digital leadership and economic resilience.”
