Jersey Zoo Unveils New Summer Trail Inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Jersey Zoo’s newest visitor, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has sparked an exciting new trail around the park, featuring two-metre-tall cutouts of his favourite foods and augmented reality codes designed to engage children and teach them more about his journey.
This summer, the beloved character is making his way through Durrell Wildlife Park in Trinity, inviting islanders to follow his footsteps. Giant apples, pears, and other pop-up fruits are scattered throughout the zoo, with QR codes providing clues about where the caterpillar might head next.
The interactive trail offers children a chance to explore the life cycle of a butterfly while climbing and crawling through the whimsical world created by Eric Carle. It also supports early learning by helping youngsters understand the days of the week and practice counting.
Ian Osborne, Director of Commercial at Jersey Zoo, expressed enthusiasm for the new addition: “The Very Hungry Caterpillar is such a well-loved book, and this amazing trail is an excellent way for us to connect our visitors to nature in a fun and playful way. We are looking forward to seeing this beautiful tale come to life across the zoo.”
The trail promises a memorable experience for families visiting Jersey Zoo this summer.
