Jersey Welcomes Its Newly Sworn-In Bailiff

Mr Robert MacRae has officially taken office as Jersey’s 91st Bailiff following a special ceremony at the Royal Court this morning. During the event, he pledged to uphold the island’s laws and historic privileges.


The appointment was approved by the King after Sir Timothy Le Cocq announced his retirement.


Looking ahead, Jersey’s Attorney General, Mark Temple KC, has been named as Deputy Bailiff, set to assume the role in early 2026. Mr Temple has served as the island’s top prosecutor since 2020 and previously spent five years as HM Solicitor General.

I am conscious of the high standards set by my predecessors, which I will endeavour to uphold.”
