Jersey Schools Respond to Security Scare
Several schools in Jersey took swift action last week in response to a suspicious email, which was later deemed a hoax.
Authorities confirmed that the email did not pose a credible threat, with police quickly determining there was no danger to students or staff. However, some schools opted to close as a precaution on Friday, 7 February.
The Department for Children and Education supported the decisions made by headteachers, stating they acted appropriately upon receiving the information.
Among the affected schools, St George’s Preparatory School evacuated in the morning and remained closed for the rest of the day.
In a message to parents, headteacher Sarah Hague expressed gratitude for the support from Jersey Police and praised her staff for their dedication and professionalism in managing the situation.
