A world-famous Jersey potato farm is inviting families to discover more about island farming with a free open day this Sunday.

The Jersey Royal Company will welcome visitors to Peacock Farm in Trinity for an event designed to give people the chance to explore the farm, learn about potato production and enjoy activities for all ages.

The company said visitors could expect a range of hands-on experiences, including an educational marquee, potato picking activities and guided tours of the packhouse to see how Jersey Royals are prepared and packed before being sent to customers.

There will also be a micro laboratory display and food stalls offering visitors the chance to enjoy local produce while finding out more about farming in Jersey.

The event comes shortly after the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Jersey Royal potato packhouse during a trip to the island, where she discussed the challenges of maintaining production while improving sustainability.

Organisers said the family day would provide an opportunity for people to get closer to the island’s farming heritage.

“Come along for a fun, hands-on look at farming in Jersey,” the Jersey Royal Company said.
