Jersey Records Hottest June Day Ever as Temperatures Soar Above 33°C
Jersey experienced its hottest June day on record as temperatures climbed to a scorching 33.4°C (92.1°F) on Monday, according to Jersey Met. This surpasses the previous record of 33.2°C set on 17 June 2022, making it the warmest June day since records began in 1894.
June 2025 is also on track to be the hottest June ever recorded on the island, with a provisional average temperature of 18.7°C, narrowly beating the 18.6°C average set in June 1976.
Elsewhere in the UK, an amber heatwave alert was issued for southern and central regions, where temperatures reached as high as 34°C (93°F).
Martin Knight from Jersey Public Health said the department is working closely with schools to ensure children can enjoy the weather safely, promoting practices like staying in the shade.
"Advice and information are important," Knight said, "but it's also about having the right policies and support in place. Our kids should be enjoying the sunshine, but doing so as safely as possible."
