Jersey Water Achieves 99.95% Compliance in Water Quality Tests
Jersey Water has announced that 99.95% of its water quality samples met regulatory standards in 2024, describing the results as "excellent." Samples were collected from its treatment works, service reservoirs, and customer taps to ensure comprehensive monitoring.
The company also reported that 100% of water tested at its Handois and Augrès treatment works met compliance requirements.
Jeanette Sheldon, Jersey Water’s head of water quality, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality drinking water: “We are dedicated to supplying safe drinking water 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, while providing excellent service to our customers. Our water operations team works tirelessly to ensure your water is safe and reaches your tap reliably.”
She added, “We conduct thorough sampling and analysis at every stage of the process to meet stringent quality standards.”
Investigations and Actions
Over the year, Jersey Water’s quality team carried out 14,851 tests, including checks at 243 randomly selected customer properties. Of these, eight samples returned results that did not meet regulatory requirements.
The non-compliant results were traced to either Jersey Water's service reservoir at Les Platons or customer taps. The company emphasized that none of the results posed a risk to public health.
A spokesperson for Jersey Water explained, “We thoroughly investigated all failures to prevent recurrence. At the Les Platons service reservoir, immediate remedial action was taken. Two of the failures at customer taps were likely linked to private plumbing issues.”
Jersey Water continues to prioritise stringent quality control measures to maintain its high standards for safe and reliable drinking water.
