Jersey Police have taken action against multiple motorists following a weekend operation targeting dangerous driving across the island.

Officers deployed mobile speed cameras at several locations, including St John’s Village, Victoria Avenue and Westmount Road, as part of efforts to improve road safety.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving following a collision on Saturday, while 17 other motorists were instructed to attend parish hall hearings. A further six drivers received warnings for speeding.

Police described the public response to the operation as positive, reporting “really good engagement” and saying local residents had expressed appreciation for the increased enforcement.

Jersey’s first mobile speed camera was introduced during Road Safety Week in November last year as part of wider efforts to tackle dangerous driving.

However, in September, police disclosed that the camera’s use had resulted in no prosecutions during its first nine months of operation.
