Jersey Pearl Celebrates Four Decades of Craft and Heritage
One of Jersey’s most iconic family-run businesses, Jersey Pearl, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this summer, marking four decades of craftsmanship, tradition, and coastal charm.
Established in 1985 by entrepreneur Fred Scragg, Jersey Pearl began as a boutique jewellery store and has since grown into an internationally recognised brand, offering beautifully handcrafted pearl pieces alongside a popular café with sweeping views of the bay.
Now run by the fourth generation of the founding family, the business has expanded its reach with stores in both the UK and Spain—yet it continues to honour its roots on the island.
To commemorate the milestone, Jersey Pearl has unveiled a series of nostalgic 1980s-themed window displays across its stores in St Ouen, King Street, and Gorey, paying homage to the decade in which it all began.
Reflecting on the journey, Director John Taylor shared:
“Some of my best memories are from the days when we had ladies lining up around the building to catch a glimpse of John Nettles in our showroom during Bergerac’s '80s heyday. It's been an incredible ride.”
As Jersey Pearl enters its fifth decade, the company remains a shining example of how a family business can evolve while staying true to its origins.
