Jersey Opera House Manager Steps Down Ahead of Reopening
The interim manager of Jersey Opera House, Andy Eagle, has announced his resignation just a month before the iconic venue is set to reopen following a five-year closure for extensive restoration work.
Eagle, who has been at the helm during the latest phase of rebuilding and refurbishment, stated that he was stepping down to return to the UK and be closer to his family. His departure comes just ahead of the theatre's highly anticipated reopening, which coincides with the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day on 9 May.
In a statement, Eagle expressed that with the Opera House’s reopening on the horizon, he felt his "responsibilities had been fulfilled." He described his time at the theatre as an opportunity to contribute to the restoration of the Grade II listed building, a role he had always intended to undertake on an interim basis.
The Opera House is set to open its doors for the first time in five years, following a £13m restoration project, with two special concerts planned to mark Liberation Day.
The board of Jersey Opera House praised Eagle for his leadership during a "critical period of transition and change," noting that his efforts had paved the way for a bright future for the venue.
“It has been a privilege to contribute to the restoration of such a distinguished venue,” Eagle said. “I extend my sincere best wishes to the dedicated team as they guide the Opera House into its next chapter.”
