New digital resources have been introduced in Jersey to help families better understand the role of the island’s Educational Psychology Service.
The Government of Jersey has unveiled an online hub featuring short videos in multiple languages, alongside a downloadable guide that outlines how the service operates and addresses common questions from parents and carers.
The launch coincides with the arrival of the island’s new principal educational psychologist, Dr Rachel O’Connor, who has now officially taken up the post.
Speaking about the developments, she said the service is aiming to grow and improve its reach: “By expanding our team, working more closely with schools and families, and making information clearer and easier to access, we are creating a service that is both sustainable and effective in supporting better outcomes.”
Officials confirmed that Dr O’Connor has begun her induction and is eager to collaborate with schools, professionals, and families across Jersey.
Her appointment forms part of a broader effort to reshape the Educational Psychology Service under the leadership of Dr Jo Lyons. The initiative focuses on making the service more visible and impactful for children and young people.
As part of these improvements, the government also announced the expansion of the Psychology and Wellbeing team, which brings together educational psychologists and wellbeing facilitators to provide more coordinated support.
