Jersey Hospice Care is set to open the doors to its newest retail venture this weekend – The Hospice Shop East – located at Holme Grown in Grouville. The shop brings a fresh addition to the charity’s growing portfolio and has already caught the attention of a UK-based second-hand fashion influencer.
The opening event will be attended by Jennifer Graham, better known to her 102,000 Instagram followers as @charityshopgirlcsg. A self-proclaimed charity shop enthusiast and stylist, Graham is a prominent voice in the world of sustainable fashion and second-hand style.
“Jersey holds a very special place in my heart,” she said. “I used to live on the island and my son was born here, so coming back feels like a homecoming. I’ve been following Jersey Hospice Care’s charity retail journey for a while, especially after visiting their St Ouen shop last year. I’m thrilled to be here for this exciting next step.”
Jersey Hospice Care relies on retail sales, along with fundraising and events, to generate 57% of the £8 million needed annually to sustain its specialist services. The new shop in the east will complement its existing locations in St Ouen and St Helier.
Designed to challenge outdated perceptions of charity shops, the Grouville store offers a contemporary shopping experience with a strong focus on sustainability. Much of the interior has been crafted from recycled materials, creating a vibrant and eco-friendly space.
Marcus Meadows, Head of Retail at Jersey Hospice Care, says the new store is part of a wider mission to modernise the image of second-hand shopping on the island.
“We want to show that charity shops can be stylish, fun, and sustainable,” he said. “The Hospice Shop East is full of character – we’ve got neon lights, bold design elements, and a carefully curated mix of items that rival any high street offering.”
With its trendy interior and strong sustainability ethos, The Hospice Shop East is set to become a go-to destination for conscious shoppers and vintage lovers alike.
