Jersey-Heathrow Flights Canceled Following Power Outage
All flights between Jersey and Heathrow Airport on Friday were canceled after a fire at a nearby electrical substation caused a major power outage.
Heathrow Airport was forced to close early Friday morning, leading to the cancellation of British Airways flights between Jersey and London, including the 07:00, 10:40, and 16:55 GMT departures from Jersey and the 09:50, 16:05, and 20:10 arrivals.
A spokesperson for Jersey Airport urged affected passengers to check with British Airways for further updates on their travel plans.
Widespread Disruption at Heathrow
British Airways advised customers not to travel to Heathrow until further notice. A spokesperson stated: "Due to a power outage in the London Heathrow area, the airport is currently closed. This will significantly impact our operations, and we are working quickly to update customers on their travel options for the next 24 hours and beyond."
Heathrow Airport officials also warned of "significant disruption" in the coming days and urged travelers to avoid the airport until it reopens.
