Jersey Coastguard is urging the public to stay away from a navigational buoy that has drifted into local waters.
The buoy was spotted earlier today (12 September 2025) near Portlet Common by an islander, who quickly reported it to the Coastguard.
A pilot vessel was dispatched to assess the situation, with a land-based team providing support to confirm its exact position.
The Coastguard’s Marine Operations Team is continuing to monitor the buoy and will carry out a full assessment once tidal conditions ease.
Officials have warned that the buoy is located close to a tidal cutoff point and have stressed that islanders should not attempt to approach it.
