Co-op Members in Jersey Agree to Keep 2% Dividend Amid Recovery

Members of the Channel Islands Co-operative in Jersey have voted to retain a 2% dividend on member shares for the next year, following a return to profit.

The decision, made at the society's annual meeting, comes after the Co-op reported a net surplus of £800,000 — a turnaround from a £1.8m loss the year before. The dividend was previously cut from 4% to 2% due to the 2023 losses, and members backed the move to maintain the lower rate for now.

CEO Mark Cox described 2024 as a year of “real progress,” highlighting the return to surplus, increased membership, and renewed investment.

The vote will now go to members in Guernsey. Meanwhile, the Co-op continues to grapple with supply chain disruptions caused by a cyber-attack, which has led to product shortages in stores.
