Thousands of visitors turned out over the bank holiday weekend to experience life on the water at Jersey’s annual boat show, with organisers praising strong attendance despite mixed weather at the start.
The popular event, held each year in St Helier, typically welcomes around 30,000 people and features an array of private vessels, maritime demonstrations and visiting naval ships. This year’s show also highlighted the work of local charities, with breast cancer support group ABC Jersey selected as its 2026 beneficiary.
Event organisers said initial rain dampened early footfall, but conditions quickly improved, bringing in large crowds. One of the standout attractions proved to be a visiting Royal Navy patrol vessel, which saw its onboard tours fully booked shortly after opening.
Visitors described the show as lively and well worth attending, with some travelling to the island specifically to coincide with both the maritime event and wider holiday celebrations.
Charitable initiatives were also a key part of the weekend. Wet Wheels, which provides sea experiences for disabled and disadvantaged people, continued its campaign to raise funds for a new, modern vessel to replace its ageing boat.
Emergency services were present throughout the event, offering safety advice and demonstrations. Fire and rescue crews used the opportunity to remind the public about coastal hazards, including fast-changing tides and the importance of keeping access points clear.
Meanwhile, the Jersey Lifeboat Association unveiled its newly refurbished all-weather lifeboat following a significant upgrade. Improvements include enhanced engines and advanced navigation systems designed to boost search and rescue capabilities, with the vessel expected to return to service later this month.
Organisers said the combination of attractions, community involvement and improved weather helped ensure another successful year for one of the island’s flagship events.
