Passengers travelling through Jersey Airport this summer will experience a temporary new departure lounge layout as work continues on a major redevelopment of the terminal.

Airport officials said the revised arrangement has been designed to maintain passenger comfort and convenience while construction progresses.

The next stage of the project is expected to open in October, introducing a modern seating area and a new mezzanine level overlooking the runway. Access to the upper level will be provided by a lift inspired by Jersey's historic Martello Towers.

Managing Director Dale Reeson said the temporary changes had been carefully planned to minimise disruption during the busy summer travel period.

"We've worked hard to ensure passengers can continue to travel comfortably while we invest in the airport's future," he said. "As the summer season gets underway, our priority is to make sure every traveller receives a warm welcome and enjoys a smooth start to their journey."

The redevelopment has been shaped in partnership with a number of local organisations, including the Chamber of Commerce, Brighter Futures, Visit Jersey, Durrell, the National Trust for Jersey and ArtHouse Jersey.

Airport officials said the updated departure lounge will celebrate the island's identity through artwork created by local artists. Planned features include aerial photography installations, ceramic skylarks and handcrafted wicker cows.

The wider project will also deliver additional retail outlets and an improved family area.

The final phase of the redevelopment, featuring a new restaurant and bar, is scheduled for completion in summer 2027.
