Jersey Airport’s £10m Departure Lounge Revamp Set to Open in November

The first phase of a £10m redevelopment of Jersey Airport’s departure lounge is expected to open to passengers in early November, as part of efforts to modernise the airport and improve the travel experience.

The project, led by Ports of Jersey, aims to upgrade passenger facilities and replace ageing infrastructure across the airport.

The revamped lounge will feature a redesigned layout, additional seating and a new mezzanine level offering views across the runway.

Ports of Jersey chief executive Matt Thomas said the improvements would “massively enhance the experience” for passengers.

The design has been developed with contributions from charities, businesses and organisations representing tourism, heritage, arts and passenger interests.

Among the planned features are wicker Jersey cows, aerial photographs of the island, a lift tower inspired by Martello towers and a family area themed around Plémont Bay.

Mr Thomas said the redevelopment also involved significant investment in the airport’s underlying infrastructure to support its long-term operation.

“ This project is about much more than creating a beautiful space for our passengers,” he said.

He added that substantial investment had been made in the airport’s 30-year-old infrastructure, including upgrades to heating, ventilation and other essential systems.

The second phase of the redevelopment is scheduled to open in 2027.

It will include an improved food and drink area, an expanded assisted travel lounge, refurbished main toilet facilities and a shop specialising in Jersey produce.

The wider £10m programme is part of Ports of Jersey’s plans to improve airport facilities and provide passengers with a more modern departure experience.
