An island resident has parted with his long hair to support a cause close to his heart, raising more than £1,000 for Stroke Association Jersey.

André Le Geyt, who had been growing his hair for years, decided to make his next haircut count by fundraising for the charity that supported both of his parents after they suffered strokes. His lengthy locks, which reached foot-long proportions, were shaved off at Amorella & Co in St Helier. The hair has also been donated to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children and young people experiencing hair loss due to illness.

Having witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by stroke survivors, Mr. Le Geyt chose to support the Stroke Association to help others receive the same vital assistance his family did.

Despite adjusting to the cold without his long hair, he acknowledged the practical benefits of the new look, including a much quicker shower routine.

The Stroke Association has expressed its gratitude for the fundraising effort, emphasising that contributions like these are essential for providing support, research, and advocacy for stroke survivors.

Donations for the fundraiser are still being accepted through Mr. Le Geyt’s JustGiving page at justgiving.com/page/andresheadshavefundraiser.
