The Weighbridge Ice Rink in St Helier is set to open this Saturday with limited hours due to a delay in the installation of light rigging, organisers have confirmed.
The Jersey Development Company (JDC) announced the rink would operate from 09:30 to 16:00 GMT between 16 and 19 November to ensure safety during low light conditions.
Opening Delayed by Electrical Incident
Initially planned to open during October half-term, the rink’s launch was postponed after a metal stake was accidentally driven through a 90,000-volt electricity cable on 11 October. The stake was being installed to anchor the marquee against high winds when the incident occurred.
Apologies and Adjustments
The JDC apologised for the delay and any disappointment caused. Organisers assured customers with bookings during the restricted November period would be contacted.
The rink will remain closed on 20 and 21 November, with updated opening hours for 22 November onwards to be announced.
