A special concert will take place in Howard Davis Park this week to pay tribute to the men and women of the RAF who served during the Second World War.
The event, led by the 30-member La Ronde Concert Band, will be held tomorrow evening and is set to feature a programme of stirring wartime music.
Howard Davis Park, which also houses the Jersey War Graves Cemetery, serves as the final resting place for Allied servicemen who lost their lives during the Occupation.
Band conductor Charlotte Cooper said she was honoured to be part of the occasion. “It is a privilege for La Ronde Concert Band of Jersey to perform at such a meaningful moment of remembrance,” she said.
The evening will include well-known pieces such as The Dam Busters March, the RAF March Past, Elgar’s Nimrod, and John Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen. Audience participation will also be encouraged during a selection of wartime favourites.
Funds raised from the concert will go towards the Royal Air Forces Association’s Jersey branch.
