Homefields Unveils Plans to Expand St Clement Farm Shop

Plans have been submitted to redevelop and expand the Homefields farm shop in St Clement, with owners saying the current premises are no longer suitable for the growing needs of the business.

The proposed development would create a larger retail space, making room for a dedicated butchery, an outdoor seating area and a wider selection of locally produced food.

According to planning documents, the existing building no longer delivers the standard of customer experience the business wants to offer. The owners say the expansion reflects increasing demand from shoppers who are interested in seasonal produce, locally sourced food and understanding where their food comes from.

They said the new-look farm shop would remain true to the business's roots while providing a better environment for customers and a stronger platform to support local growers and producers.

Rather than creating a supermarket-style shopping experience, the owners say the aim is to develop a welcoming, authentic space that reflects the values Homefields has built over the years.

The proposal comes as interest in local and seasonal produce continues to grow across Jersey, with initiatives such as the fortnightly Jersey Farmers Market helping to promote island-grown food. It also follows the recent closure of the nearby Home Grown Farm Shop, whose owners said the site was no longer suitable for their business.
