Guernsey Braces for Busy Sailing Weekend as Over 150 Yachts Set to Arrive

Guernsey is set to welcome more than 150 yachts this Saturday as the island becomes the finishing point for two major sailing events.

Around 100 competitors are taking part in the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s prestigious 2025 Morgan Cup Race, which sets off from the Isle of Wight on Friday and concludes in St Peter Port.

Meanwhile, an inter-island yacht race is due to start in Jersey at 08:30 BST on Saturday, with participating boats expected to reach Guernsey by the afternoon.

Guernsey Ports marina manager Steve Lowe said preparations are well under way, and the team is hoping for “good weather and fair seas” to ensure smooth sailing.

“Our team will be on hand to support everyone in having a safe and enjoyable experience,” he said. “If you're heading out on your own boat this weekend, please be patient with our visiting yachtsmen and always prioritise safety on the water.”

Mr Lowe also highlighted the economic boost such events bring to the island.

“This weekend’s regattas are shaping up to be among our busiest of the summer,” he added. “It’ll be a real spectacle out on the water, with over 100 boats staying overnight in Guernsey Marinas.”
