Alderney Seeks Ferry Operator for New Jersey Route

The government of Alderney is searching for a ferry operator to establish a seasonal service between the island and Jersey.

The States of Alderney has issued a call for expressions of interest from external operators to run a ferry with capacity for up to 12 passengers. The service is expected to operate from late May to the end of September, with the possibility of an extension into the 2026 summer season, pending review.

Interested parties have until 28 March to submit their proposals.

According to the States, the ferry route would require a minimum of four weekly rotations, allowing for overnight stays in Alderney.

Stuart Clark, Chair of the Economic Development Committee, highlighted the importance of ferry links, noting that seasonal services to Guernsey have played a key role in the island’s transport network.

"The limited travel links to Jersey have been well noted, and the committee believes that direct connections with Jersey present an opportunity worth exploring," he said.

The initiative aims to strengthen Alderney’s transport options and boost connectivity between the islands.
