Jersey Event Aims to Inspire More Women to Enter Politics
An event in Jersey today aims to encourage more women to stand for election to the States Assembly.
Organised by Vote.je, the official election information platform for Jersey, the Their Legacy, Your Future event marks International Women’s Day by celebrating female political trailblazers and inspiring future candidates.
The event will feature a panel discussion hosted by current female States members, who will share their experiences of campaigning and being elected.
Emily Thomas, campaign manager for Vote.je, emphasised the significance of the occasion. “International Women’s Day is the perfect opportunity to highlight the achievements of women in politics and inspire more female candidates to step forward in future elections,” she said.
She noted that recent elections have seen a rise in both the number of women standing for office and those successfully elected. As part of the event, attendees will also have the chance to take part in a Q&A session and get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the States Chamber.
