Rebecca Brewer Confirmed as Durrell CEO
Rebecca Brewer has been appointed permanent CEO of Durrell after serving as interim CEO for a year following the resignation of Dr. Leslie Dicker. Trustees highlighted her strong professional experience, passion for conservation, and dedication to the charity’s mission.
Rebecca, who joined Durrell in 2019 as Director of Finance, expressed pride in leading the organisation and aims to develop a strategy rooted in founder Gerald Durrell’s legacy. Dr. Lee Durrell, Honorary Director, praised her values and leadership qualities.
At the charity’s AGM, Chair Matthew Hatchwell urged members to support the leadership, emphasising the need to refocus on conservation efforts and prepare for Gerald Durrell’s centenary in 2025. Trustee elections saw eight members elected or re-elected, with all proposed rule changes approved. A resolution requiring the chairman to reside in Jersey was rejected by members.
