Former Hangar Site May Be Turned Into Airport Parking

The site of a demolished aircraft hangar at Jersey Airport could be transformed into extra parking, pending planning approval.

Hangar Four is currently being dismantled, leaving an unused space that Ports of Jersey proposes to repurpose as long-stay parking and hire car bays. The plans also include new cycle shelters and adjustments to bus and taxi arrangements to improve efficiency and encourage sustainable travel.

Under the proposals, the airport’s bus stop would be relocated to directly outside the arrivals building, while the taxi pick-up area would be repositioned for clear visibility from the terminal.

Ports of Jersey said removing the hangar had “provided the catalyst for a broader package of improvements,” aiming to boost capacity and enhance facilities for passengers.

“Increased customer parking, temporary vehicle storage, and upgraded cycling infrastructure will support safe and efficient operations while improving the overall experience for users,” the application states.
