Jet2 to Launch Direct Jersey–Bournemouth Flights in 2026 Amid Major Expansion
Islanders in Jersey will soon be able to fly directly to Bournemouth, with Jet2 announcing a new air route set to launch in the summer of 2026.
The twice-weekly service will operate between July and September, connecting Jersey with the popular south coast town in England. The new route forms part of a broader expansion by Jet2, which plans to boost its capacity to and from the island by 50% compared to 2025.
Stephen King, Chief Operating Officer at Ports of Jersey, welcomed the development, calling it “a major boost for connectivity, tourism, and the local economy.”
Jet2 confirmed the Bournemouth route will offer over 7,000 seats, aimed at serving both local residents and incoming visitors. In addition to the new service, the airline will also introduce an extra weekly flight to Newcastle and extend the summer seasons for its East Midlands and Leeds Bradford routes.
“This expanded investment is a strong vote of confidence in our island and its future as an attractive destination,” Mr. King added.
The airline’s expansion has received support from the Government of Jersey through its Better Business initiative. Deputy Kirsten Morel, Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, said he was “delighted” by the move, noting the potential to bring “thousands” of extra visitors to the island.
Visit Jersey’s Chief Executive, Tricia Warwick, described the announcement as a “significant boost” for the local tourism industry.
“Connectivity is crucial for Jersey, and this expanded access will make it easier for more visitors to experience our beautiful island,” she said.
