Stena Vinga Arrives in St Helier for Berthing Trials Ahead of DFDS Ferry Takeover
Islanders will be able to spot the Stena Vinga in St Helier Harbour this week as she undergoes vital berthing trials before DFDS officially takes over Jersey's ferry services.
The trials come just days ahead of DFDS’ planned transition, which will see the Danish ferry operator replace Condor Ferries on 28 March, marking the beginning of a 20-year partnership.
The Stena Vinga, set to operate the passenger and freight route to Portsmouth, will be in Jersey’s waters on 18, 19, and 20 March, as part of the preparations for the new service.
Jersey’s Harbour Master, Captain Bill Sadler, emphasised the importance of these tests, which ensure the Stena Vinga can dock safely and efficiently at Elizabeth Harbour.
“This trial is crucial to familiarising the crew with the harbour's layout and operations,” Captain Sadler said. “We’ve been working closely with DFDS to ensure a smooth transition, and I’m excited to see the new service in action.”
The Stena Vinga is expected to arrive at Elizabeth Harbour at approximately 08:30 am on Tuesday.
