DFDS Issues Apology Over Ferry Schedule Changes

New ferry operator DFDS has apologised after several passengers had their sailings between Jersey and France rescheduled with little notice.

Marcus Stone, a long-time traveller, was among those affected—his 18 April morning crossing to St Malo was moved to the evening, forcing him to miss a planned family gathering on Good Friday.

DFDS, which recently took over Jersey’s ferry services under a 20-year contract, said changes were due to high demand and early operational adjustments. A spokesperson said the company had added extra sailings to cope and asked for "patience and understanding" during the initial phase of the schedule rollout.

"We are working hard to deliver a high standard of service," the company said, noting that its team remains committed despite early logistical challenges.

Stone questioned whether the disruption was a one-off or a sign of overbooking. DFDS did not confirm the cause but praised its staff for helping maintain service reliability during the transition.
