Crowds Mark a Decade of Jersey Parkrun

Hundreds of islanders laced up their trainers this weekend to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Jersey’s weekly parkrun.


The free 5km event, held every Saturday at 09:00 in Les Quennevais, welcomed runners, walkers, and volunteers for a special milestone gathering complete with birthday hats and cake at the finish line.


Event director Michael Chaytor, who began volunteering nine years ago, said it was “quite surreal” to reflect on the journey.


“It’s gone from strength to strength,” he said. “Parkrun is about more than running fast times — it’s about health, wellbeing, and people coming together as a community.”

Among those taking part was 14-year-old Emily, who had already completed an ultramarathon the day before. She is currently training for a remarkable challenge: five ultramarathons in five days to raise money for breast cancer charity ABC Jersey.
