Housing and Care Among Top Concerns Raised at Community Advice Event
Housing, long-term care, and budgeting remain major concerns for islanders, according to Deputy Helen Miles, following a recent Citizens Advice Jersey event.
The charity hosted a pop-up session on Saturday at St Brelade Parish Hall as part of its ongoing island-wide tour, designed to bring independent advice directly to local communities.
Residents were able to seek guidance on a range of topics, including financial planning, housing issues, and employment support.
Deputy Miles said these areas made up the "vast majority" of conversations she had with attendees on the day.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Miles described the parish tour as a "really excellent initiative" that helps bridge the gap between services and the wider community.
"Citizens Advice is usually based in town at St Paul's Centre, so it’s great to see them reaching out and engaging with people across the parishes," she said.
Citizens Advice Jersey said its goal is to provide islanders with the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate challenges, offering support regardless of individual circumstances.
"Our main goal is to be there to offer islanders and our island community support and advice," the charity said. "We give people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward, whoever they are and whatever their problem."
