Charity aims to expand seal care facilities

Jersey Charity Plans to Expand Seal Care Facilities

The JSPCA, Jersey’s main animal charity, aims to develop better facilities for rescued seals. Currently, it provides pens and shallow pools but lacks a deep pond for seals to fully recover before release.

Interim CEO Tom Noel said finding a suitable location for a larger pool is a priority. Volunteers stress that keeping seal pups in Jersey would reduce their stress from being flown to the UK.

The charity hopes to strengthen local rehabilitation efforts alongside other marine welfare groups.
