Pressure Mounts for Release of DFDS Ferry Contract
Jersey’s Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel has called on the government to publish the contract signed with ferry operator DFDS.
The company was awarded the 20-year concession in December 2024 to run passenger and freight services between Jersey, the UK and France. While the Panel has been given access to the document in confidence, it now argues that releasing it publicly would strengthen trust and accountability.
Panel chair Deputy Montfort Tadier said islanders deserve clarity on the service standards agreed with DFDS. He acknowledged some details may need to be redacted for commercial reasons but insisted there was “no reason” the agreement could not be made public.
The move puts further pressure on Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel, who has so far kept the contract under wraps.
