A new online toolkit designed to help Jersey employers identify and tackle gender pay gaps has been made available at no cost.

Developed jointly by IoD Jersey, gender-equality advocacy group Mind the Gap Community, and HR consultancy MyAnova, the tool offers a calculator and guidance aimed at directors and organisations with more than 50 employees.

While Jersey does not require businesses to publish gender pay gap data, the Government has backed the initiative and encouraged firms to make use of it.

“We hope that by offering a toolkit we help remove that perceived barrier”

IoD Jersey chair Alex Ruddy said many employers had previously raised concerns about the potential expense and workload involved in reporting pay gap figures. “We hope that by offering a toolkit we help remove that perceived barrier,” she said.

Supporters say that encouraging gender equality can boost recruitment, lower staff turnover and enhance productivity through better morale and wellbeing. Firms that take up the tool will also have the option of being highlighted on the Mind the Gap Community website.

Chief Minister Deputy Lyndon Farnham welcomed the launch, describing the toolkit as a practical step for local employers seeking to improve workplace equality. “Jersey businesses depend on the skills and expertise within our community, so ensuring we make the most of everyone’s talent is vital,” he said. He thanked the IoD and Mind the Gap group for establishing a consistent reporting approach.

The toolkit is available through the Jersey Business website.
