Blue Islands named least punctual UK airline in Q2 2025 Channel Islands carrier Blue Islands has been identified as the least punctual airline operating in the UK, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The regulator reviewed the performance of 20 airlines during the second quarter of 2025, finding that only 55% of Blue Islands’ flights were on time or arrived within 15 minutes of schedule. The figures also showed a higher rate of cancellations and lengthy delays compared with other operators.
Blue Islands, which operates around 9,000 flights annually, said the issues were linked to “industry-wide supply chain problems and delayed aircraft deliveries.” The airline added that improvements would be reflected in upcoming CAA data.
A spokesperson said: “We acknowledged back in May that operational issues had seriously impacted our on-time performance in Q2. Since then, we have seen a marked improvement. In August, for example, 74% of our 863 flights arrived on time, and 99% were successfully operated.”
The airline noted it had previously ranked among the top carriers for punctuality in 2023.
By contrast, Scottish regional airline Loganair topped the reliability table, with 85% of its flights arriving on schedule. The company also announced a new route from its Southampton base to Jersey, set to launch in early 2026, aimed at boosting inbound tourism and supporting the local hospitality sector.
A Loganair spokesperson said: “We are delighted to connect Southampton to Jersey, enhancing travel options for visitors and supporting the island’s visitor economy.”
