The Jersey Battle of Flowers Association has voted for the parade to move back to Victoria Avenue in 2026, after being staged in town for the first time this year.

Organisers said safety, logistics and costs were the key reasons behind the decision. Staging the event in town had presented difficulties with road closures, moving traffic, and additional expenses for signage and security. By contrast, Victoria Avenue allows for larger floats and fewer complications.

The association confirmed that the 2026 parade will be free to attend, with floats limited to 35ft in length to help reduce costs.

This year’s town-based parade was introduced after the cancellation of the traditional event in 2024, following a £150,000 overspend. More than £120,000 of taxpayer money was used to clear debts, with the government stating the funds would be deducted from future grants.

While some in government favour keeping the parade in town to maintain links with local businesses and the community, the association believes the avenue offers a safer and more practical solution.

Committee members said they aim to preserve the sense of intimacy and interactivity enjoyed by audiences in town, while taking advantage of the larger space on Victoria Avenue.
