Marina Transformed as ‘Art in the Arches’ Returns with New Murals
Fourteen vibrant new murals are set to bring fresh energy to Elizabeth Marina as Art in the Arches returns with a bold new theme: ‘Out of the Blue’. The initiative unites professional artists, schoolchildren, and community groups in a creative celebration of art and island life.
This year’s project is led by ArtHouse Jersey and features work by well-known local artists Rian Hotton, Ben Robertson, Layla May Arthur, Aimée Cast, and Abi Overland.
Joining them are students from four Jersey schools, each interpreting the theme in their own unique way:
Rouge Bouillon Primary's mural, ‘Message to My Future Self’, features Year 6 pupils painting messages sealed in bottles—a symbolic gesture as they prepare for secondary school. A digital version of their work will be available via QR code.
Springfield Primary contributes to the worldwide Blue Marble Project with cosmic artwork reflecting their commitment to protecting the Earth.
Jersey College for Girls, in collaboration with poet Danielle Myers, presents ‘One Woman for One Woman’, a mural combining poetry and illustration to honor the strength and resilience of women.
Hautlieu School students explore Jersey’s deep ties to the sea in their creative contribution.
In addition, Ocean Culture Life and CAMHS have teamed up with five families to produce ‘Blue Heart Adventure’, a mural inspired by the dramatic coastline of L’Etacq, blending art and storytelling to reflect nature’s influence on well-being.
The public will have a chance to celebrate the finished murals at a special event on Thursday, 18 September, where they will be officially unveiled by St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft.
The project continues to highlight the power of public art to unite the community and transform everyday spaces into vibrant storytelling canvases.
