Jersey Marathon Marks 20th Year with International Field of Runners
More than 2,000 runners are set to line up for the 20th edition of the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon this weekend, with elite athletes from across the globe joining local competitors.
Participants from Kenya, Morocco, France, the UK and the Channel Islands will descend on St Helier on Sunday, where the course begins and ends. The route takes runners west across the island before looping back to the capital.
The event features not only the full marathon but also a team relay and a mile-long community race, ensuring runners of all abilities can take part.
Organisers said the international line-up would bring strong competition in both the men’s and women’s races, raising the stakes for the milestone year.“We’re expecting some really exciting battles for first place,” they said.
The Jersey Marathon has grown steadily since its launch in 2005, attracting elite contenders alongside thousands of recreational runners, and has become one of the island’s biggest sporting events of the year.
