Aurigny has pledged to deliver a more dependable inter-island air service as it prepares to operate regular flights between Guernsey and Jersey later this year.

The airline will introduce twice-daily services between the two islands from late March through to October, after stepping in to operate the route following the collapse of Blue Islands. The move comes after Loganair was unsuccessful in securing approval from Guernsey authorities to run the service.

Aurigny’s chief commercial officer, Philip Saunders, said the airline was fully aware of the responsibility it was taking on.

“Everyone at Aurigny understands the importance of the trust that has been placed in us,” he said, adding that improving reliability would be a key priority.

Flights will operate Monday to Saturday with an early morning departure from Guernsey at 07:20, while Sunday services will begin slightly later at 08:00. The final flight of the day is scheduled to depart Jersey at 17:40.

Saunders said the timetable had been designed to support same-day business travel during the week, while weekend schedules would allow leisure passengers to make the most of time spent on the neighbouring island.

He said the airline was committed to providing a significantly improved experience compared with recent years on the route.

The new inter-island service is due to launch on 29 March and will run until 24 October.
