Fundraiser Urges Supporters to Re-Send Donations After Administrative Error

An islander who spent three weeks sleeping outdoors to raise money for ADHD Jersey is now urging supporters to re-send their donations after a technical oversight caused all funds to be refunded.

Will Crawford, who goes by the name “Bare Wills,” raised over £2,300 during his 21-night outdoor challenge in May. However, while on holiday recovering from the effort, he was informed that none of the donations had been received—because he had accidentally failed to link his bank account to the fundraising platform. As a result, all contributions were automatically returned to donors.

ADHD Jersey had planned to use the funds to support its teenage wellbeing programme. So far, only about £650 has been successfully reclaimed through re-donations.

Crawford acknowledged the mistake, attributing it to the way his ADHD manifests."It's just the diversity of my ADHD: I've got two Facebooks, two Instagrams, two emails – I just don't know how I missed it," he said."Some funds have been re-sent, but I think many people haven’t noticed the refund hit their accounts, so they’re unaware of the issue."

Charity Struggling for Funds

Rachel Boss, CEO of ADHD Jersey, emphasised the urgency of recovering the lost donations."This could have happened to any of us," she said.

"We’ve recovered nearly £700 so far. If we can get the rest back, it would be absolutely phenomenal."

She added that the charity is currently self-funded and heavily relies on community-led initiatives like Will’s to stay afloat."We’re down to bare bones. Every pound we receive goes directly into supporting people with ADHD in Jersey," Boss said.

"Our teenage wellbeing programme and ongoing STEPS programme depend on support like this."

Crawford has since created a new fundraising page and is encouraging anyone who contributed previously to re-send their donation to help the charity meet its goals.
