A ferry operator has announced it will run an additional sailing between Jersey and Guernsey in February to help facilitate travel for a major car rally.
Brittany Ferries confirmed it will add a special inter-island round trip to support the seventh Guernsey Rally, during which competitors will tackle 28 stages across two days, covering roughly 50 miles of competitive driving.
The operator said that a new Sunday return service to St Helier had been arranged to ensure drivers, supporters and officials can make it to the event scheduled for 20–21 February.
According to Paul Acheson, Brittany Ferries’ commercial director, the move reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to island communities.
Under the revised timetable, an additional sailing will leave Guernsey at 05:45 on 22 February, arriving in St Helier at 07:45. Jersey-based competitors will head to Guernsey earlier in the week on the usual Voyager service departing 18 February.
Acheson added that the firm recognises the importance of inter-island sport, noting that Brittany Ferries has also arranged a day trip to Jersey on 16 May next year to help football fans attend the Muratti Vase Final.
