Jersey Athletes Receive £103,500 Boost to Reach Sporting Success

Twenty-three Jersey athletes have been awarded a share of £103,500 through Jersey Sport's 'Performance Sport Programme,' a government-funded pilot aimed at supporting athletes with 'podium potential.'

Chosen from 44 applicants, these athletes represent 11 sports, including para discus, snooker, rowing, and artistic roller skating. The programme offers holistic support, covering strength training, injury prevention, nutrition, psychology, and media training.

Para discus thrower Rachel Leck, who received over £4,000, highlighted the impact of financial support on travel and competition costs. Another funding round will be available later this year, with over £100,000 up for grabs.
