Coast Road to Shut for Six Weeks During £1.5m Works
A major stretch of the island’s east coast road will be partly closed for six weeks as £1.5m resurfacing works get under way.
The Infrastructure and Environment (I&E) Department confirmed that part of La Grande Route de la Côte in St Clement is being repaired for the first time in over 20 years. Officials said the investment should ensure the road “lasts for many years to come.”
The section will be closed to traffic from 07:30 to 21:00, Monday to Friday, with the aim of reopening at weekends. Access for residents will be maintained “where possible.”
Temporary one-way systems will be introduced, and motorists have been warned that failing to follow diversions could result in fines of up to £1,000.
The project is scheduled to be completed by Friday 29 August.
