Fire crews tackle large blaze in Jersey building


Fire crews are tackling a large blaze at a building in Jersey.


Jersey Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports at around 14:45 BST in the loft of a building behind a coffee shop in St Aubin's village.


The fire service confirmed there were no people inside the building and no casualties have currently been reported. Properties on Rue du Crocquet have been evacuated, and people have been asked by the fire service to avoid the area.


Neighbouring properties were also checked by police.


The top of Mont Les Vaux road and from Le Haule Hill have been closed, and so has Mont des Longchamps. The railway walk is also closed at the lower end, and police are in the process of closing Market Hill. The States of Jersey ambulance service and States of Jersey Police are also at the scene.
