"Jersey Market: Upcoming Events Aim to Infuse Vibrancy"



Jersey Markets should be "buzzing with activity" and "the jewel in the crown of St Helier, the minister for infrastructure has said.


Deputy Tom Binet, laid out an improvement plan for the markets at a meeting with traders.

Events have been proposed, including al fresco dining in the markets, and a new website has been launched with better signposting. The markets were "long overdue for some attention", Deputy Binet added. "We're now taking the next steps to make sure the Jersey Markets have a bright and exciting future," he added.


"I've spent time speaking to the tenants at length to understand their big issues and want to work with them to create thriving markets at the centre of improved public realm.

"Islanders are supportive of the markets and want to see them buzzing with activity, and we acknowledge that the consumer experience needs to improve."


Deputy Kirsten Morel, minister for economic development, tourism, sport and culture, said the ambition of the new plan was "to create an attractive and dynamic retail sector".
