Swimmers Cautioned About Construction at Jersey Beach

The coastguard has advised swimmers using a Jersey beach to "remain clear" of engineering works.

Jersey Coastguard said the work to upgrade the drainage, external network was covered at high tide and various obstructions may not be visible at West Park St Aubin's Bay.

The Ports of Jersey issued a notice, external on 2 August and said mariners should "navigate with caution" along the south coast.

It said: "Engineering works are being completed on the shore line where a work site is operational during periods of low water.

"Mariners should be aware of obstructions that may be fully covered, or awash and navigate with caution."

The Government of Jersey said the work at St Aubin's Bay was to replace a groyne with a new surface water outfall which is designed to separate surface water from combined sewer system. It added much of the project was expected to be completed in October.
