Ports of Jersey has welcomed plans to upgrade the passenger ferry terminal in St Malo, France.
The French authorities have approved a modernization project that will deepen and widen the ferry berths, making it easier for larger vessels to dock. A Ports of Jersey spokesperson stated, "We are pleased that the authorities have approved the modernization of the ferry terminal, which serves thousands of islanders traveling to France each year."
The project is estimated to cost over 100 million euros (£85 million). However, French media reports indicate that some heritage campaigners have raised objections to the work.
Ports of Jersey added, "We are working closely with our counterparts in St Malo and collaborating with our French neighbors to establish a zero-emission shipping route between Jersey and St Malo."
