The team at L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa sent some sweet-smelling festive magic into a Jersey school
this year so that youngsters didn’t miss out on a much-loved Christmas tradition.
The COVID pandemic put a stop to the children from Mont Nicolle School joining L’Horizon’s Executive Head Chef Andrew Soddy at the AA Four Red Star hotel for their annual visit to help him create his edible winter wonderland, so he gave them the tools to create their own.
The six and seven-year-olds had dozens of gingerbread houses delivered to school along with all the sugar and spice they needed to decorate them.
Andrew said, “We’ve missed having the children in the kitchen this year, but we didn’t want them to miss out altogether and we hope they enjoyed creating their own gingerbread village at school.”
The L’Horizon kitchen team have spent hours prepping all the ingredients for the gingerbread creations which usually form part of the annual festive feature at the hotel.
Commenting on the festive treat, Lisa Paul, Headteacher at Mont Nicolle said, “I was absolutely delighted when the chef and the team from L’Horizon contacted me to ask if we would like to receive a delivery of gingerbread houses for the children to decorate at school. The children were really excited and are delighted to have the opportunity to work on the seasonal sweet creations! We thank the chef and his team for bringing some festive magic to our school!”
