Island Likely to Experience Warm, Sunny Weather Next Week

After weeks of below-average temperatures, both Islanders and visitors are wondering: When will summer finally arrive? According to Jersey Met, not anytime soon.

Last year at this time, the Island enjoyed its second-warmest June on record. Despite a fair amount of sunshine, daytime highs this June have often been below average. Wet and windy weather over the weekend led to the cancellation of the Sunset Concerts.

Jersey Met predicts it may be another week before warmer and drier weather arrives.

Senior forecaster Stephen Meloche stated this week could be "quite wet" with showers or longer periods of rain, but with some sunshine and slightly higher temperatures than earlier this month.

He added that longer-term projections suggest a chance of warmer, more settled weather starting the week of Monday 24 June, with maximum temperatures of 22°C to 24°C.
